This coin is engraved after the Aztec Sun Stone, a representation of the five eras of the sun from Aztec mythology.Ā After the Spanish conquest, the monolithic sculpture was buried in the ZĆ³calo, the main square of Mexico City. It was rediscovered on 17, December 1790 during repairs on the Mexico City Cathedral.
The reverse featuresĀ our Moon's surface texture atĀ a geographically (technically it's selenographically) correctĀ 91,196,160:1 scale.
This heavyĀ fine silver worry stone feels good in the hand and the pocket. The thickĀ silver coin blank is pre-tumbledĀ before minting for a smooth edge and then given an antiqued finish.
